What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of inserting needles in certain parts of the body that feel pain or are blocked energy points impeding. Some people freak out over the idea of inserting needles into one’s body, but studies and testimonies show that it helps alleviate pain and relieve stress in certain parts of the body by stimulating muscles, nerves and tissue.

What to expect in an acupuncture session?  

You will tell the practitioner what your complaint is and what you would like to alleviate, here the practitioner will determine whether clothes need to be removed or not. If they need to be removed, then a towel or robe will be provided. Then you will lie down on a padded surface, either face up or down. Then the session will begin, sterile needles are inserted with different depths into one’s skin and stay in place for different amounts of time. The number of sessions varies based on what wants to be alleviated, but between 2-8 sessions can help alleviate a problem.

What are the benefits of acupuncture?

People use acupuncture to alleviate pain in certain parts of their bodies, it has been used to alleviate back and neck pain, menstrual cramps, osteoarthritis, insomnia, migraines, sprains, etc. Not only does acupuncture help alleviate physical pain, but also mental health, many studies have been done proving that acupuncture helps alleviate stress, as well as dealing with depression and anxiety.
