What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is the physical manipulation of soft body tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue) using different pressures and techniques. It has been used in ancient Western and Eastern medicine to help alleviate pain and stress. 

What to expect in a massage therapy session?

Based on what type of massage you want, you can keep your clothes on or be asked to leave on minimum garments or completely undress, which in this case, a robe or towel will be provided. One will also be asked on the massage intensity preference. Then one will sit or lie down in a comfortable position, and the practitioner will begin the massage. The session may last around 30 minutes to an hour. After a massage, it is usual to be relaxed (maybe sleepy), and even soreness.

Multiple physical and psychological benefits arise from massage therapy, some being helping reduce stress and anxiety, loosen up tightness, alleviate pain, improve circulation and reduce inflammation, accelerate healing of physical injuries, improve digestion, among other benefits.
