National Alliance on Mental Illness Southeast Wisconsin

NAMI Southeast Wisconsin is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. We seek to inspire the hope of recovery through education, support, and advocacy and offer free classes, support groups, suicide prevention training, crisis intervention training, youth mental health outreach and more in order to reduce the stigma and improve health outcomes. 

We operate through a lens of lived experience, offering learned wisdom and practical next steps to individuals and communities impacted by mental illness.    

Ongoing programs and classes include:

  • Family-to-Family - a free 8-week class for those who have a loved one experiencing a mental illness

  • NAMI Basics - a free 6 week class for parents/caregivers who have a child 18 and under with a mental health concern

  • Peer-to-Peer - a free 8-week recovery course for adults living with a mental health diagnosis.

  • Ending the Silence- free education and outreach in schools and youth organizations

  • QPR Suicide Prevention- free suicide prevention training  

  • Family Support Groups- monthly drop-in meetings throughout the three counties for loved ones affected by mental health issues

  • Parent Peer Support Groups- monthly drop-in support group for parents of children under 18 who are living with a mental illness

  • Survivors Support Group - monthly drop-in support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide

  • Crisis Intervention Training for law enforcement and first responders

  • Mental health presentations, resources tables, and lived experience presentations
