What is reiki?

“Energy healing” or “palm healing” are some terms some people use to explain what reiki is. Reiki is a Japanese healing method practiced for over 2,500 years unblocking energies that affect individuals emotionally, mentally and physically. It is a type of therapy that has been increasingly in use in the past years, helping balance out energy. 

What should I expect during my reiki session?

The setting for the session must inspire calm and peace to the individual. They will lie or sit down in a position that is comfortable to you while fully clothed. The practitioner will place their hands gently over one’s body and channel energy from their hands to the part of the body of the individual where energy has been blocked. Their hands may be in that position from 3-10 minutes, especially if the individual has an injury. A session usually lasts around 50 minutes, if not less. You leave the session feeling relaxed and calm.

What are the benefits of reiki?

Reiki has helped individuals physically and psychologically in dealing with hardships. It helps reduce stress, alleviate pain, speed up healing, and deal with certain medical conditions as a complementary treatment to medical treatments individuals are already undertaking.
